Thermal generators were used to melt the frozen gases covering some asteroids. Canderous Ordo and his troops used a thermal generator to melt the gases around an asteroid in the Crispin system. The methane gas shell exploded out from the asteroid, and shredded three smugglers that were using it for cover in a picosecond. The "asteroid" started spinning, and attacked the Mandalorians before it accelerated beyond the edge of the galaxy.
