The TIE torpedo was a sleek, one-man attack submarine under development by the Galactic Empire at Juggerhead on Bestine IV. It was researched in secret, under the cover of Acclamator-class assault ship construction. The former Imperial research facility was scrapped in 9 ABY when Bestine had joined the New Republic.
