Dame Kura

Dame Kura was the ruler of the planet Kuratooine. After the Yuuzhan Vong War claimed the lives of most members of the Kura family, leaving her as its sole surviving member, she welcomed refugees to settle on Kuratooine, requiring them to serve three years of indentured labor before allowing them to buy out their contracts at a fair price. Kura then loaned many of the settlers the funds to purchase land, fostering a population of hardworking landowners with long term ties to the planetary government.

Dame also granted the Galactic Alliance Armed Forces century-long leases on large tracts of land for only one credit, with the provision that she or her heirs would retain any immovable improvements after the leases expired. The arrangement encouraged the Alliance to establish military facilities on Kuratooine, including Rimsaw Station, while also strengthening the planet's strategic importance near the border of the Imperial Remnant.
