Rintero

Rintero was a crime lord who served as the boss of the Crimson Dawn crime syndicate by sometime between 17 BBY and around 13 BBY, preceding Dryden Vos during the early Imperial Era.

After Imperial forces arrived on the Mid Rim Territories planet of Janix to hunt down the renegade former Sith turned crime lord Maul, Rintero's subordinate, Dryden Vos, contacted his old ally via another crime lord, Looti Vario, via an encoded transmission to offer a deal for safe passage off the beleaguered world. Speaking to Maul via hologram of Vario’s comlink, Vos said he had heard of his difficulties, and offered a proposal that will benefit both of them. Maul responded by asking if Vos' superior approved, to which Vos scoffed and replied that Rintero didn't know about the proposition or about him contacting Maul. Maul then queried the offer of sanctuary from Crimson Dawn, who had betrayed him in the past, and Vos submitted that he would personally provide for Maul's escape from the Empire, on the provision that, once his part of the bargain was complete, the darksider would kill Rintero and install Vos as the new leader of Crimson Dawn. Maul, impressed by Vos' deviousness, tacitly accepted the offer, and promised to be at the rendezvous coordinates for the extraction window. En route to Janix, Vos again contacted Vario, and though the Aleena tried to warn him that they had encountered complications, Vos was force to cut communications to avoid detection as he approached. When subsequently cautioned by a Crimson Dawn pilot that there could be a risk, he replied that, with Maul's help, he would reap the reward of taking over the syndicate and prospering. After rescuing Maul from heavy fire and jumping into hyperspace, Vos told him he'd upheld his end of the bargain, and Maul replied promising to do the same.

Though Vos had succeeded in replacing Rintero by around 13 BBY, his predecessor had left all sorts of nasty surprises.
