Torbin was a Force-sensitive human male from the planet Bonadan who served as a Jedi of the Jedi Order during the High Republic Era. Between around 158 BBY and 157 BBY, he became the Padawan of Jedi Master Indara. In 148 BBY, Torbin and Indara were stationed on the planet Brendok along with Jedi Knight Sol and Jedi Master Kelnacca. The Jedi spent seven weeks searching for a vergence in the Force on the planet, during which Torbin grew distracted and impatient. During their investigation, the Jedi discovered a coven of witches lead by Mother Aniseya. Concerned that the witches were training children to use the Force, the four Jedi interrupted a ceremony and requested to test the children they had learned of—the twins Verosha "Osha" and Mae-ho "Mae" Aniseya—to see if they were Force-sensitive. Aniseya initially refused and used the Force to incapacitate Torbin while threatening the other Jedi, but reluctantly agreed after being persuaded by Osha and Indara.
The next day, Torbin took blood tests from the twins as part of their testing. The results of the tests showed an irregularity, which the Jedi believed could be a sign of the vergence they were searching for. Thinking that proof of the vergence would allow them to return home, Torbin took a speeder bike to the witches' fortress and was pursued by the rest of the group, who sought to prevent him from starting a conflict. However, when Sol caught up with Torbin, the two worked together to enter the fortress to save the twins, believing them to be in danger. In the fortress, a skirmish broke out after Sol mistakenly believed Aniseya to be using dark magicks and killed her. When Kelnacca arrived at the fortress, he was possessed by the witches and attacked Torbin and Sol. During their fight, Torbin lost his left eye after being slammed into a wall by Kelnacca. Indara then arrived and freed Kelnacca from the spell, inadvertently killing the witches in the process. Sol tried to rescue Osha and Mae from a fire that had broken out, but only succeeded in saving Osha, with Mae being presumed dead.
Around a year later, Torbin completed his Jedi training, attaining the rank of Jedi Knight. Around 142 BBY, after becoming a Jedi Master, Torbin took the Barash Vow and entered a silent state of meditation to atone for his role in the incident on Brendok. In 132 BBY, Mae began targeting the four Jedi who had been stationed there, both to seek revenge and please her master. After killing Indara, Mae tracked Torbin to the Jedi temple on the planet Olega, where her first attempt to kill Torbin failed due to a Force barrier he manifested though the Barash Vow. She later returned with bunta poison and offered Torbin the choice to either confess his crimes to the Jedi Council or drink the poison to receive forgiveness. At this, Torbin finally broke his silence and willingly drank the poison, killing himself. Following Torbin's death, the Jedi, including Sol, continued their investigation into Mae's murders. Sol was killed by Osha when she sided with Mae's master, after which Jedi Master Vernestra Rwoh covered up the murders, insisting that Sol had been responsible for the killings of Torbin and the other Jedi who had been stationed on Brendok.
