The parents of the Chiss Syndic Mitth'ras'safis "Thrass" belonged to a minor family of the Chiss Ascendancy, the nation of the Chiss species. Thrass's father died prior to his birth, while saving Mitth family Patriarch Mitth'oor'akiord, core name "Thooraki," from an assassination attempt. The patriarch offered Thrass's mother a chance to join the Mitth as a ranking distant—the third highest position in the Mitth—which she accepted, making Thrass a cousin, the second highest rank in Thooraki's family.
