In 33 BBY, the Sith Lord Darth Maul fought a wampa in forced gladiatorial combat while in the space penitentiary Cog Hive Seven. The wampa was infected with a disease that infused it with greater durability and enabled it to continue fighting even after suffering blows that would have normally killed it. Nevertheless, Maul eventually succeeded in destroying the beast.
