The entrenchment on Malastare was a prolonged defensive campaign waged by Grand General Kenner Loring and the splinter faction of Imperials loyal to him. These forces entrenched themselves on the planet Malastare, where they held out against New Republic forces and ignored the wishes of loyalist Imperials who operated under Grand Admiral Rae Sloane and Fleet Admiral Gallius Rax. Loring made the decision to entrench his forces on Malastare shortly before Sloane's Akiva Summit. Loring made the decision in concert with fellow rogue Imperial Grand Moff Ubrik Adelhard but then separated from Adelhard, who, nonetheless, would reach out after the entrenchment had been going on for some time with the offer of an alliance.
