Mudslide disaster

A mudslide disaster occurred in the eastern regions of the secondary continent of the planet Naboo in 22 BBY. Most of a village was destroyed, with only eight children who had been onboard a school transport surviving. Former handmaiden Yané and her wife Saché took in the children. By four days afterwards, half of the survivors had been taken in by other family members, but the remaining children, all of whom were cousins, remained in Yané's care. The Naboo planetary legislative assembly, of which Saché was a member, dispatched survey teams to the slide site and surrounding regions, drafted engineers to develop new safety mechanisms, consulted farmers on the best way to move forward with further terracing the hills in the area, and had medical funds set up for the orphaned children so they could be cared for.
