Boron

Boron was a substance that was present in the soil of the planet Lah'mu in the Outer Rim Territories' Raioballo sector and in the atmosphere of the planet Toshaal of the Outer Rim's Cadma sector. The boron in Lahmu's soil contributed to the groundwater there having an unpleasant taste, leading the Erso family that had settled on the planet to use GX-8 water vaporators to instead distill water vapor from the atmosphere.

Boron could be used to manufacture Diamond-Boron Missiles. In 3 ABY, the Galactic Empire's governor Thorden of Toshaal's moon Toshara announced plans to restore the aging Toshaal Atmospheric Mining Station that was situated in Toshaal's orbit. In a Holonet News Toshara news report, the reporter Kotera Braal noted that the refurbishment of the station would facilitate a four-fold increase in the extraction of boron from Toshaal's atmosphere.
