Core Foodstuffs was a major macro-farming corporation that was heavily invested on Taanab, an agricultural planet located in the galaxy's Inner Rim. By 10 ABY, the Galactic Empire's agricultural policies had impoverished local farmers, allowing Core Foodstuffs and other agricultural companies to exploit the affected farmers and employ them as virtual enslaved labor.
