Galactic Corporate Policy League

Legends. This article is part of Legends: the expanded-universe stories that Lucasfilm set apart from canon in 2014.

The Galactic Corporate Policy League (GCPL), or the Corporate Policy League, was apro-militant and pro-business lobbyist group operating in the last few decades of the Galactic Republic, aiming to influence Galactic Senate policy to those ends. Overall, however, the group was not popular among the Senate in 32 BBY. The Sith Lord Darth Sidious, who was active in the Senate under his guise as Senator Palpatine of the Mid Rim planet Naboo, compared embracing the CPL at that time to someone being in open support of slavery.

In the 32 BBY Supreme Chancellor election, the Trade Federation of Planets and CPL endorsed Gran Senator Ainlee Teem in his campaign for Supreme Chancellorship. However, the CPL's endorsement essentially doomed his chances of securing the election as the Senate, already unwilling to elect a militant Gran, did not wish to support someone backed by the CPL. In the end, it was Palpatine who won the election, paving the galaxy closer to the Sith Order's planned civil war and the culmination of its Grand Plan.
