Phase II Dark Trooper
Canon Legends version → Linked from 8 articles
The Phase II Dark Trooper was a type of experimental stormtrooper created by the Galactic Empire as part of the Dark Trooper project. The Phase II was a heavily-armored black and silver body suit worn by a human pilot and stood taller than 1.83 meters. Its helmet featured a pair of glowing red lenses and an assault cannon was mounted on the left forearm. Phase II Dark Troopers were used to storm enemy defenses and several could be carried by a K79-S80 Imperial Troop Transport for deployment during combat operations.
During the Galactic Civil War, Phase II Dark Troopers were being evaluated by the Imperial Military and were deployed during the Battle for Tatooine. Later it was decided that the human pilot was the final weakness of the dark troopers, so the Phase-III Dark Trooper turned the dark trooper into a battle droid, though ultimately the Dark Trooper project would return to it’s roots as a mechanized, heavily-armored suit in the fourth generation design.
