Dark Trooper (original)

The original Dark Troopers were cyborg clone troopers who had over seventy percent of their body replaced by mechanical components. They were created by the Galactic Republic's Special Weapons Group, a division of the Strategic Advisory Cell, who initially used cybernetics to treat injured clone soldiers. Believing robotic parts had an advantage over organic, this led to the development of the Dark Trooper project, a program to create powerful soldiers. The original Dark Troopers were mentioned by Clone Commander Neyo in the survival compendium "Neyo's Almanac of Clankers." A subsequent iteration were Phase II Dark Troopers, stormtroopers who used a heavily armored and modified body suit. The Dark Trooper project viewed the entire human within as a weakness, and so the third generation design transitioned to fully advanced battle droids.
