Varovian Council

The Varovian Council was a political body which governed the planet Varovia during the High Republic Era. Some time after Varovia was visited by Jedi Master Barnabas Vim during or after around 482 BBY, debates over whether the Varovians should attempt to obtain the mystical Sacred Rod from an ancient temple and wield its power intensified among the council. While some believed securing the rod could grow the power and influence of the Varovians across the galaxy, others believed the Tolemites had hidden the rod behind layers of trickery due to the inherent danger of the rod and that it could corrupt the population. As tensions mounted, the former group formed into the Prophets while the latter formed the Seers. These two factions went to war against one another for generations until achieving a fragile stalemate.
