Prophets

Canon Linked from 6 articles

The Prophets were a political and military faction which emerged amid a schism in the Varovian Council over how the Varovian people should handle the powerful Sacred Rod located on Varovia. The Prophets, believed the Sacred Rod was a gift to be accessed by those worthy of its power and should be weaponized. Others in the council, who would become the Seers, believed that the Tolemites, who brought the Sacred Rod to Varovia and sealed it with arcane trickery within a temple, did so to hide it from the galaxy. They felt that uncovering it would be dangerous and may corrupt the Varovian people. When the schism led to the Varovian Civil War, the Prophets maintained their position until a stalemate was achieved.

Decades into the war, the Prophets' leadership included an individual able to command military forces. When Varovia was visited by a Republic Pathfinder team led by Jedi Master Atticus Cale, who were in search of evidence of a missing colleague's whereabouts. The Prophets accepted a deal proffered by the Seers to allow Cale and his team to travel to the temple to remove the Sacred Rod from Varovia. When Cale opened the temple, however, the Prophets attacked in order to finally obtain the Sacred Rod. Their attempt was in vain, however, when Cale apparently destroyed the rod and escaped.

The war came to a close following Cale's apparent destruction of the Sacred Rod, and the Prophets and Seers reorganized into the nation of United Varovia, which persisted until at least 228 BBY.
