Varovian Civil War

The Varovian Civil War was a generation-spanning conflict which took place on the planet Varovia during the High Republic Era. The war was built upon disagreement over how the Varovian people should handle the Sacred Rod, an ancient and powerful relic sealed within an inaccessible temple. One side, the Prophets, believed that the Varovians were destined to weaponize the rod to increase their influence in the galaxy. The other side, the Seers, believed that the rod was dangerous, corrupting, and was sealed away for a reason. Thousands of Varovians died in the conflict. Eventually, the conflict grew cold amid a fragile stalemate.

Decades into the war, Varovia was visited by a Republic Pathfinder team led by Jedi Master Atticus Cale, who were in search of evidence of a missing colleague's whereabouts. The Prophets and Seers agreed to a deal to allow Cale and his team to travel to the temple to remove the Sacred Rod from Varovia. When Cale opened the temple, however, the Prophets attacked in order to finally obtain the Sacred Rod. Their attempt was in vain, however, when Cale apparently destroyed the rod and escaped.

The war came to a close following the apparent destruction of the Sacred Rod, and the Prophets and Seers reorganized into the nation of United Varovia, which persisted until at least 228 BBY.
