A labor camp, also known as a work camp, was a penal institution where inmates were put to hard physical work. The Galactic Empire had labor camps at various locations, including one on Wobani and another on Erebus. On Lothal, those charged with crimes such as treason were forced to construct devices such as gravity locks while in prison, one such prisoner being Ryder Azadi. On the planet of Riosa, Darth Vader himself oversaw the subjugation and the impressment of the population into such camps. The Naboo artist Palo Jemabie was sentenced to an Imperial labor camp, although he did manage to get out eventually.
According to Paige Tico, the First Order turned Martaus VI, the homeworld of the Martigrade Fossil, into a labor camp.
