Nihil smokestone

Nihil smokestone was a mineral native to the Nihil Retreat that had the ability to act as a mental transmitter and receiver. The Sorcerers of Rhand used it to control Pawns by imprinting slaves with it. This was usually done via skull implants or removable cranial harnesses. When a Sorcerer wore a shadow crown made of smokestone, they gained the ability to receive the collective sensory input of their Pawns and could give them primal commands such as kill, run, or feed. Individual Pawns could also be directly controlled like the marionettes of a puppeteer.

Lord Shadowspawn was able to replicate the abilities of Nihil smokestone with the meltmassif of Mindor.

Emperor Palpatine's son Triclops was fitted with a mind-control device that duplicated the effects of Nihil smokestone.
