Plasteel

Plasteel, sometimes called plastisteel, was a material that combined acrylic polymers and metal alloys. Plasteel retained the elastic strength of plastics while benefiting from the strength and heat resistance of metal. Plasteel was most commonly used in armor, spaceship components, containers, and construction. It was capable of yellowing with age.

Military-grade plasteel made capable armor, able to withstand heavy assault weapons and explosives, and was used extensively in the MI-series security droid. Vector Technologies was a company that specialized in military-grade plasteel, and produced plasteel that was strong enough to withstand a thermal detonator, but was as light as polythin. PD-series protocol droids had their powerbus cables sealed behind plasteel plating. The Scarab Mark VI assassin droid's body casing was made of armored plasteel. EVS Construction Droids were capable of producing plasteel girders for building structures.
