Raynor Mining Enterprises was a prospecting and mining corporation that existed during the time of the Old Republic. Founded by Trebold Raynor, the company was somewhat notorious for their strategy of buying a planet, harvesting all available resources, (whether they be mineral, ore, or crystal) and then abandoning it.

After detailed surveys, that showed ore reserves worth of centuries, they decided to purchase Kothlis in order to make permanent settlements. Raynor outbid the Bothans who wanted the planet for a colony.

Clans of Ugnaughts were imported as manual workers, and built the first installations on the planet: a temporary facility and a smelting plant at the eastern feet of the Ragnook Mountains. Most of the millions of credits funded the construction of a huge metallic platform near the production centers, in order to build a mega-city on it.

However the ore reserves unexpectedly ran out, raising questions about the initial surveys. Chaos spread throughout the company, struggling to consolidate its resources. Two years of floundering led to bankruptcy. This gave the Bothans the opportunity to purchase exclusive rights to Kothlis, after paying off Raynor's debts. All this was a fraction of the initial cost, and the Bothans took advantage of the installations and the workers to complete the city and establish a colony.
