Star cluster

Legends. This article is part of Legends: the expanded-universe stories that Lucasfilm set apart from canon in 2014.

A star cluster was a gravitationally-bound group of stars that had formed from the same molecular cloud. There were several star clusters in the galaxy, including the Hapes, the Plooriod, the Zeemacht and the Cron Cluster.

Outside the galactic plane on the thick disk, there were globular clusters, formed by hundreds of thousands of stars concentrated within a hundred light-year. One such distant cluster was the Cosm's Well. Astronomers identified about two hundred such distant clusters "above" and "below" the disk, and estimated they contained barren and poor worlds, and remained unexplored.
