The Defense Research and Planetary Assistance Center, or DRAPAC, was a New Republic research installation that was rushed into construction upon Mount Yoda on the planet Dagobah deep within the Outer Rim Territories. Rebel historian Arhul Hextrophon suggested Mount Yoda, formerly Mount Dagger, as the location for the DRAPAC facility due to the location's reputation for being haunted and cursed. The facility twelve levels including housing, a full commissary, and private tutoring for the children of the military and civilian staff. Among these students were Luke Skywalker's informal apprentices: Jedi Prince Ken, Zak Arranda, and Tash Arranda. The thirteenth level was restricted on to top-level SPIN personnel as it contained a number of classified experiments such as Project Decoy.
