Ongwa family tree

The Ongwa family tree was a tree planted by the wandering Ongwa family upon their arrival to Corellia. Located in the Green, on the outskirts of Coronet City, the Ongwas made their home near the tree, praying that it would watch over them. The planting of this species of tree was an important tradition to the Ongwa family, and as they wandered the galaxy every few generations to settle temporarily on a new planet, they would plant a new tree. As such, members of the family, upon coming of age, were entrusted with protecting seeds of the tree with their lives.

Over several generations of Ongwas, the tree on Corellia grew to tower over the surrounding flora. Growing up, Alys "Crash" Ongwa had a strong affinity for the tree, finding it a place of immense comfort. However, when war came to Corellia, with many supporting the Nihil invasion, Ongwa participated in a plan to lure the Nihil to the Green under a false lead that her team was hiding there. She ordered the aerial bombardment of the Greens, destroying the tree in the process.

The destruction of the tree, and of her ancestral and childhood home, was deeply traumatizing to Ongwa. Her guilt grew to the point where she returned to the desolate ruins of the Green in a fruitless attempt to find any salvageable remains of the tree. She eventually learned the full history of the tree from her mother, Baynoo Ongwa, and was entrusted with the seeds. This set Crash Ongwa on a new path of redemption.

Following the Battle of Eriadu, during the victory celebrations, Crash and Baynoo Ongwa revealed their family tradition of the tree to their assembled friends, and with the help of Sevran Tarkin, planted seeds of the tree there on Eriadu, continuing the cycle.
