Rion was a planet in the Outer Rim Territories of the galaxy, orbited by multiple moons. During the High Republic Era, the Skembo Ceeril served as the ambassador of Rion. The human Jedi Kanan Jarrus and the Twi'lek pilot Hera Syndulla spent time together on the planet's moons during the early years of the Galactic Empire's reign. Jarrus would later be reminded of his time on the moons of Rion while drinking Spiran caf with Syndulla onboard the VCX-100 light freighter Ghost. After the Battle of Yavin, the Rebel Alliance sent the Millennium Falcon to the planet on a mission to buy supplies from Razian. Han Solo almost derailed the operation when he signed up to race the Rion Swoop.
