Legends. This article is part of Legends: the expanded-universe stories that Lucasfilm set apart from canon in 2014.
Having been spread throughout the galaxy by freighters and cargo ships, duracrete slugs were large silica parasite mollusks that dug tunnels into building foundations and fed off the duracrete therein, using their mouths powerful muscles. This was then excreted on to the skin, forming armor. They also possessed nodules on their armored skin, formed from the excreted elements of indigestible concrete. Duracrete slugs were virtually blind, but had feelers capable of sensing rock layers. While their average length was three to five meters, some specimens on Coruscant were known to reach ten meters in length, especially in the Coruscant underlevels. While extremely similar in appearance to the duracrete worm, the duracrete slug possessed distinctive nodule ridges on its back.
