Ethersquid

The ethersquid was a type of squid that was one of the things for which Gyndine, a planet of the Expansion Region's Circarpous sector with forests and lakes on its surface, was known for. It was a deadly creature that could endanger starships over Gyndine, and it had suckers that left marks comparable to those left on the body of the Human bounty hunter Boba Fett after he had emerged from the stomach of a sarlacc arthropod on the Outer Rim Territories planet Tatooine.

In the aftermath of the Battle of Gyndine, an engagement fought as part of the invasion of the galaxy by the extragalactic Yuuzhan Vong species in 25 ABY, a team of Yuuzhan Vong aboard a ship in orbit over Gyndine were assisting with pacification efforts there. A Yorik-vec assault cruiser of Domain Yaght, a rival of the team's own Domain, led a group of ethersquids to attack the other ship, which eventually crashed on Gyndine.
