Fillithar were a snake-like sentient species hailing from the world of the same name. As a serpentine life-form, they lacked hindquarters. Their tail, however, was prehensile. During the High Republic Era, the Fillithar Jedi Master Simmix trained the Padawan Cohmac Vitus. Around 3 BBY, a male Fillithar named Sssamm Ashsssen was part of the Apprentice Legislature along with Leia Organa. Twenty years into the reign of the New Republic, the Fillithar were represented in the Galactic Senate. Around the time of the so-called Napkin Bombing, their senator sided with the Populist faction.
