Ithorian crawlers were genetically designed organisms capable of surviving in a zero-moisture environment. These beings were seeded on the planet Gholondreine-β by the Galactic Empire after it drained the planet's oceans. According to the Empire's intention, the Ithorian crawlers exuded a long-lasting biotoxin into the soil of Gholondreine-β, making the planet completely uninhabitable for many centuries.
