These circular devices serve as a proximity sensor when initially set, switching to a homing beacon once their sensor has been tripped. They also featured a holoprojector, displaying the class and type of starship they would call in. There were three distinct types of Starship Traps: Starfighter Traps, Bomber Traps, and Dropship Traps.
