Din Djarin

Din Djarin, also known as "the Mandalorian," or simply "Mando," was a human male Mandalorian warrior during the era of the New Republic. With his Mandalorian armor, IB-94 blaster pistol, Amban sniper rifle, and distinctive beskar helmet, Djarin was both well-equipped and enigmatic—a stranger whose past was shrouded in mystery to others. An orphan born on Aq Vetina in the waning years of the Galactic Republic, he was raised on Concordia as a foundling by the Children of the Watch, an orthodox religious sect that had broken off from mainstream Mandalorian society. He vowed to walk the Way of the Mandalore, swearing to never again reveal his face to another living being, and eventually joined the Tribe, which operated in a secret covert on the planet Nevarro. After the fall of the Galactic Empire, Djarin made a reputation for himself as a member of the Bounty Hunters' Guild. Far from the authority of the New Republic, he traveled across the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories in his personal ST-70 Assault Ship, the Razor Crest, collecting bounties and delivering them, warm or cold, to Guild Master Greef Karga. Djarin became battle-hardened, a man of few words, and a formidable hunter in an increasingly dangerous galaxy.

In 9 ABY, Djarin was hired on Nevarro by an Imperial remnant faction to acquire a mysterious asset. The Mandalorian tracked the bounty to the world Arvala-7 and discovered that his quarry was a Force-sensitive infant belonging to the same species as Jedi Grand Master Yoda. A paternal bond soon formed between Djarin and the child, who the hunter later learned to be named Grogu. The outwardly-emotionless Mandalorian could not bring himself to surrender the youngling to the Imperials and absconded with the child, bringing him into conflict with the remnant's brutal leader, Moff Gideon. Djarin, alongside Karga, former shock trooper Cara Dune, and others, went on to drive the Moff’s forces out of Nevarro City and reunite with the Armorer, the leader of his covert and staunch upholder of the Mandalorian Creed. She christened Djarin and Grogu as a clan of two, commanding the Mandalorian to care for the child until he could deliver him to the remaining Jedi Knights, few in number and scattered across space.

Djarin and Grogu scoured the galaxy in search of the fabled masters of the Force, battling vicious foes and forging new alliances. These adventures saw Djarin cross paths with several faces that challenged his notions of what it meant to be a Mandalorian; these included Cobb Vanth, a Tatooinian marshal who used scavenged beskar armor to defend a small town; Bo-Katan Kryze, a princess of Mandalore who laid claim to the planet's unoccupied throne; and Boba Fett, a legendary bounty hunter and Mandalorian clone who sought to reclaim his legacy. After encountering the wandering ronin Ahsoka Tano and fighting in a series of skirmishes against the Imperial remnant, the Mandalorian and his allies eventually captured Moff Gideon and meet with Luke Skywalker, a Jedi Master that promised to train Grogu as his apprentice. Breaking his vows to the Creed, Djarin removed his helmet as he bid farewell, letting his ward see his face for the first time.

Having defeated Gideon in combat, Djarin had inadvertently claimed ownership of the Moff's weapon, the Darksaber, a mythic lightsaber that identified whosoever wielded it as the leader of the Mandalorian people. Reluctant to rule but unable to relinquish the ceremonial blade, Djarin returned to the Armorer, who branded him an apostate for removing his helmet. Djarin went on to fight alongside Boba Fett in the Battle of Mos Espa on Tatooine and soon reunited with Grogu, who had chosen to abandon his Jedi training in favor of staying with the Mandalorian. Seeking to regain his status as a Child of the Watch, Djarin ventured into the Mines of Mandalore and bathed in the Living Waters, renewing himself in the eyes of the Armorer. During his quest, Djarin was disarmed by a being that was later slain by Kryze, a sequence of events that placed ownership of the Darksaber in her hands. Uniting their disparate Mandalorian sects, Kryze and Djarin led a reconquest of Mandalore, freeing the planet from Imperial occupation and killing Moff Gideon. With their enemy defeated, the Mandalorian and Grogu settled into a quiet cabin on Nevarro where they chose to live peacefully, until such time that their allies in the New Republic called on them to hunt down more rogue Imperial warlords.
