G3-R44

G3-R44 was an astromech droid that served the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. After the Confederacy lost the war in 19 BBY, he and fellow Separatist astromech R0-E0 were confiscated and assigned as maintenance droids to the Sector Central Utility Records archive on the planet Giju, working in the Sector Central Utility Records building in the urban area of Kristom. Neither droid was properly memory wiped and they came to believe they were serving as Separatist spies in the facility, unaware that the war was over.

In 10 BBY, the BX-series droid commando ND-5, another former Separatist, encountered G3-R44 at the records building and recruited the astromech to help him locate files on the Imperial Security Bureau agent Madel Nureth. After G3-R44 provided a datapad with the information ND-5 sought, the commando droid pretended to receive orders from the long dead Separatist General Grievous instructing G3-R44 and R0-E0 to remain undercover on Giju and keep watch for anything suspicious.
