During the Skytop Station campaign of the Clone Wars in 22 BBY, General Grievous, the Supreme Martial Commander of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, invaded several planets and blockaded several vital hyperspace routes leading to Bespin, Kessel, and Mon Calamari all within a single month. After the blockades, Grievous tried to capture Bothawui, the homeworld of Bothans and important planet to Republic Intelligence. Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and his Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, were sent by the Jedi Council to stop the cyborg general. Grievous, however, pulled the Republic fleet out of hyperspace before the Jedi and their clone forces could reach Bothawui and engaged them in in open space battle.
