Filaxian was an addictive consumable available during the High Republic Era. After the Bivall Quin Carree was abandoned by her lover—Twi'lek Nihil Tempest Runner Lourna Dee—in 230 BBY, she eventually became a bounty hunter and addicted to the substance reed. When the two crossed paths again in 228 BBY, the Bivall was shot by the Twi'lek—by then also operating as a bounty hunter—though Dee had been unaware it was Carree at the time.

After learning it was Carree, Dee tried to help heal her injuries, though the Bivall began struggling and stressed that she needed to return to her ship, which Dee refused. The Sephi Tey Sirrek, an associate of Dee's, questioned the Bivall about what she was using, naming several substances—gy'lan, the spice ryll, and filaxian. When Carree began shivering in response, Sirrek pressed further, stating that they could recognize the signs of addiction. Eventually, the Bivall admitted she was taking reed.
