Hunting

Hunting was the activity of chasing and killing wild animals for food, sport, or profit. The championships known as the Crowning Convocations held on the planet Siline featured a third stage known as the Great hunt, which required the combatants to hunt the ericadi, the planet's most fearsome and dangerous predator. On the forest moon of Endor, the native Ewoks would venture out from their treetop villages to the forest floor to hunt for food. They used a variety of hunting methods to catch prey, including traps. On their native planet Kalee, the Kaleesh hunt karabbac, mumuu, and erkush. Rather than solely hunting for meat, they mainly kill to demonstrate their bravery. There existed models of blasters specifically designed for hunting. The former senator Johhar Kessen was considered a legendary hunter. Usually, only non-sentient beings were hunted, but certain criminals would sometimes hunt sentients illegally. Garnac, leader of a Trandoshan hunting lodge, was known to abduct sentients from all over the galaxy, including Jedi Apprentices, and bring them to the moon Wasskah, where he hunted them down for sport. Lexim owned a hunting ground on a forest planet. While living on Tatooine, Luke Skywalker used his T-16 skyhopper to hunt womp rats, blasting them with the vehicle's pneumatic projectile gun in the desert world's Jawa Heights region. Luke had the most hits on the monstrous pests of any of his group of friends on a skyhopper run through Beggar's Canyon. Shortly before the Battle of Yavin, when Col Takbright protested during General Dodonna's attack plan briefing in the Great Temple that the two-meter target on the Death Star was impossible to hit even for a computer, Skywalker countered that he used to "bulls-eye" womp rats that were not much bigger than two meters. Hunters who specificly hunted deadly creatures were known as big game hunters.
