Mollusk jerky

Mollusk jerky was a type of jerky that was consumable by humans and Pijal varactyls. It could be made from mollusks, creatures that typically possessed a shell-protected, meaty body. During the Republic Era, mollusk jerky was considered a delicacy on the Inner Rim planet Pijal. Pijal's lord regent, the Jedi Rael Averross, found that he disliked the taste of the jerky.

In 40 BBY, near the royal palace on Pijal, Averross rode a Pijal varactyl and kept mollusk jerky in a gear basket attached to his riding mount. Before returning the creature to the palace stables, he fed it a large stick of mollusk jerky, which the varactyl enjoyed immensely.
