Shadow Hand

Shadow Hand was the title given to the second-in-command of the Sith King.

Later, Sith orders would use it as both a title for the second-in-command of the Sith Master and as a term equivalent to a Sith apprentice.

The Shadow Hand of King Adas would inherit the fallen king's holocron; while another Shadow Hand of King Hakagram Graush, many thousands of years later, betrayed his master to the newly arrived Dark Jedi Exile Ajunta Pall, thus paving the way for Pall to become the first Dark Lord of the Sith. After Hakagram Graush's death, Pall appointed his fellow Dark Jedi as his new Shadow Hands.

During the Krath Holy Crusade, the spirit of long-dead Dark Lord of the Sith Marka Ragnos branded Ulic Qel-Droma with the mark of a Shadow Hand, whom Ragnos said would become Exar Kun's first and foremost apprentice. Qel-Droma then served as Kun's Shadow Hand throughout the Great Sith War. During the Jedi Civil War, after disposing of his master, Darth Malak declared his apprentice Darth Bandon to be his Shadow Hand. A few years later, during the First Jedi Purge, Visas Marr served as Darth Nihilus's Shadow Hand after Nihilus retrieved her from the surface of her Force drained homeworld, Katarr. The concept continued with later Sith. Darth Vader trained his own disciples, among them Lumiya and Flint, in the hopes of pitting them against one another to find a champion worthy of being the Dark Lord's own Shadow Hand. Prior to this, Darth Cognus, who, like Vader, was a Sith of the lineage of Darth Bane, trained her apprentice Darth Millennial as a Shadow Hand.

The reborn Emperor Palpatine used the name for his campaign to retake the galaxy.
