Sith Empire

The Sith Empire, later known as the Old Sith Empire or Original Sith Empire, was a wealthy and powerful empire in the Outer Rim established by Dark Jedi who were banished from the Galactic Republic after their defeat at the Battle of Corbos at the end of the Hundred-Year Darkness.

The Jedi Exiles discovered the remote world of Korriban, where they encountered the native Sith species, who worshipped the Force-wielding newcomers as gods. The Dark Jedi came to rule and even interbreed with the Force-sensitive natives, and began a long period of building and expansion as they reorganized into the Sith Order. As the Sith Lords' knowledge of the Dark Side grew, so did their power, and over many generations, the empire expanded from Korriban to encompass many star systems. The Sith Empire developed in complete isolation within the Stygian Caldera for two thousand years before it eventually rediscovered the Republic.

Under the leadership of the Dark Lord Naga Sadow, the Empire invaded Republic space during the Great Hyperspace War, but it suffered a devastating defeat. The Sith Empire was believed to have been destroyed by Republic forces at the end of the Post–Great Hyperspace War counterinvasion of the Sith Empire. However, the Sith Lord Vitiate survived the destruction and rebuilt the Sith Empire in the Unknown Regions.

With a legacy that extended across millennia, the Sith would create numerous different iterations of the Sith Empire and later acquired galactic control by the end of the Clone Wars, with the Sith Lord Darth Sidious transforming the Republic into the First Galactic Empire. After Sidious' death, his Empire would diminish in size and eventually evolve into a new regime without Sith leadership, until the machinations of Darth Krayt would see it reorganize into a brand new Sith Empire.
