TK-462 (short story)

"TK-462" is a short story by Sylvain Neuvel, with art by Drew Baker, that was released on June 7, 2016 as part of Star Wars Insider 166. The story recounts the life of a stormtrooper. The story's early title, "TK-146275," was mistakenly used in the magazine.

Sylvain Neuvel, the author of "TK-462," intended for the short story to have taken place from 14 to 4 years before the Battle of Yavin.

When it was republished in Star Wars 2017 Del Rey Sampler, Del Rey said that the story was unchanged. However some changes were made, such as a mention to the Royal Imperial Academy changed to the Arkanis Academy, featuring Belderone instead of Lothal, removing a mention of jogan fruit, mentioning stolen medpacs instead of kyber crystals, a Rodian shopkeeper's death changed to him being knocked out, and a mention of lyleks changed to septoids. These changes were not present in its most recent reprint in Star Wars Insider: The Fiction Collection Volume 2.
