Pirate Nation

The Pirate Nation was a loosely-knit pirate utopia in existence during the New Republic Era. The Pirate Nation was identified by it's jagged black and white livery on the hulls of it's ships which were well known among interstellar merchants. While the idea of any kind of "pirate nation" seemed impossible before the establishment of the Sovereign Latitudes of Maracavanya around 5 ABY, the Pirate Nation had already established itself as a formidable force due to the ineffectiveness of New Republic patrols by 9 ABY and was actively making incursions into the Mid Rim Territories by that same year.

The New Republic was unable to defend the Mid Rim from these incursions, which was known to Pirate King Gorian Shard. By that point, Shard had proclaimed himself the ruling king of the Pirate Nation and was recognized as its leader. The vessels of Silvo's pirates also showed the livery of the Pirate Nation around that same time. The armored hull of the much older pirate ship the Onyx Cinder of Captain Tak Rennod also featured the markings.
