Clan Alya

Clan Alya was a Bothan clan. After the planet Kothlis was purchased by the Bothan Council, Clan Alya was one of three clans allowed to settle it. The clan was influential in both Bothan politics and the Bothan Spynet.

Members of the clan who completed their goals in life acquired the "y'lya" honorific.

Alya was chosen to colonize Kothlis, was owing to its specilization in shipping, mining and construction, bringing along its businesses, and portfolios of trade contacts. The construction of the colony's infrastructure was completed thanks to the know-how and labor provided by Alya. It was the second largest clan on the planet after clan Balya.

Being one of the founding clans, Alya members could occupy positions in the Bothan Colonial Board of Kothlis, and one additional member represented the clan.

By far the most famous member of the clan was Borsk Fey'lya; after 65% of Alya's population followed him to join the Rebel Alliance in the aftermath of the Batle of Yavin, clan Ilya became the second largest clan on Kothlis.

Borsk became Senator of the Bothan sector and Chief of State of the New Republic. Another notable member was Koth Melan, the leader of the Bothan Spynet during the Galactic Civil War.
