Cronau radiation

Legends Canon version → Linked from 8 articles

Legends. This article is part of Legends: the expanded-universe stories that Lucasfilm set apart from canon in 2014.

Cronau radiation was radiation emitted by an object entering or leaving hyperspace along an axis perpendicular to the object's realspace vector. For a vessel with zero space velocity, the Cronau radiation would collapse into a narrow wave cone, which could be directed away from enemy sensors. This technique was used by New Republic stasis probes during the Black Fleet Crisis. Properly configured sensors could detect Cronau radiation from a ship emerging from hyperspace at greater range than would otherwise be possible, as in the case of Death Squadron's arrival at Hoth in 3 ABY.
