Khepi

The Khepi were a theocratic species on the planet of Khepi, a group which worshipped the Stars. The Khepi existed in the Khepi system, moving to the Sayma Nebula after they predicted their world was destined to be destroyed. They constructed a tomb to preserve their species, and they remained a mystery to the rest of the the galaxy until their tomb was discovered by Galactic Empire researcher Dr. Jessik and subsequently taken over by the Rokana Raiders.

Present since the Old Republic-era of the Galactic Republic, the Khepi remained independent from the Republic even during the High Republic Era, when they first made contact with the Jedi Order and the Republic. Later, the Khepi would foresee that their world would be destroyed by an asteroid collision, and in response, they began the construction of the tomb within an asteroid inside the Sayma Nebula. Constructed with roxodium, the tomb was designed to last for thousands of years to preserve the species. To protect the tomb, guardian droids and the artifact of the Architect's Scepter were created.

The entire population of the Khepi hibernated within the tomb, hoping to preserve themselves until the the Sayma Nebula collapsed into a proton star. During the hibernation of the Khepi, many raiders and pirates searched for the Khepi Tomb in pursuit of the rumored treasure within, but they were never able to locate the tomb until the Galactic Empire researcher Dr. Jessik was discovered the location of the tomb. She provided the coordinates to Stinger Tash and the Rokana Raiders after the former promised her safe passage. However, it is implied through data pads found throughout the Tomb that the Rokana Raiders used the Dr. Jessik to find the tomb, and then killed once they arrived. They established a base within the Khepi Tomb, and tried to open it, but they couldn't do so successfully, because Stinger only had one part of the Architect's scepter, while the legendary Weequay pirate Hondo Ohnaka had the other. After the outlaw Kay Vess assisted the Hondo Ohnaka with unlocking the tomb, the Stinger Tash set off explosive charges to destroy the tomb.
