The molator was an aggressive creature from Alderaan. They appeared in Alderaanian mythology, where they were considered to be a magical creature, with an specific mythological individual known as "Grimtaash the Molator". Following the destruction of Alderaan, surviving molators were kept in menageries across the galaxy. Molators were used as dejarik holomonsters, using the name and likeness of the mythological Grimtaash.

During or after 11 ABY, a molator was one of several creatures and gladiators belonging to species featured in dejarik that was unleashed upon the Mandalorian Din Djarin and Rotta the Hutt in the Pits on the moon Shakari. The molator got hurt during the arena fight when Djarin first cut off its long tongue with a sword and later threw the same sword at its head. Still, the molator surviving the fight, before escaping the arena and wreaking havoc on civilians.
