Phidna
Canon Legends version → Linked from 9 articles
Phidnas were a type of glowing parasitic insect native to the Outer Rim planet Geonosis. They were smaller and less deadly then the world's three-meter long sand snakes. Phidnas were domesticated and harvested by the native Geonosian species, who mixed phidna excretions, including their dung, with stone powder to make rock paste, a durable material that set as hard as rock and was used to fashion Geonosian buildings and spires. This included the brown walls of the conference room in the Stalgasin hive where the Executive Separatist Council met prior to the First Battle of Geonosis in 22 BBY. Geonosis was sterilized by the Galactic Empire around 9 BBY, killing all but one of its Geonosian population.
