In 22 BBY during the Clone Wars between the Confederacy of Independent Systems and Galactic Republic, Jedi General Mayanka Catrine departed from Outpost 716 for a mission. Before departing, Catrine ordered the outpost's clone troopers to keep good care of Asajj Ventress, a major Separatist commander whom she had taken prisoner with her Padawan, Jedi Commander Agustin, during Ventress's attack on Outpost 716. Unknown to them both, Ventress's attack had been a deception: she had allowed herself to be captured and then waited for the Jedi to depart for an opening to claim the outpost. After days of waiting inside a cell, Ventress overheard a clone trooper mention that Catrine was away on her mission. After questioning the trooper to confirm if both Jedi were gone, Ventress struck and destroyed the outpost.
