Outpost 716 was a well-defended command center and outpost used by the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars between the Republic and Confederacy of Independent Systems. In 22 BBY, the base stood strong against Confederate attacks: General Grievous, a master tactician who served as the leader of the Separatist Droid Army, attacked the base, but even his assault failed. When Count Dooku sent assassin Asajj Ventress to capture the base, she succeeded via subterfuge; Ventress allowed herself to be captured and struck once Jedi General Mayanka Catrine departed.
