The Jestan system was situated in the Expansion Region's Corpheli sector, a part of both the Outer Expansion Zone sub-region and the Northern Dependencies portion of that region. The star system was located on a hyperlane that connected it to the Belukat and Corphelion systems, and it contained the terrestrial planet Jestan.
At some point by 2 ABY, a major battle of the Galactic Civil War between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance was fought on Jestan. The Jestan system was part of the New Republic between 12 ABY and 13 ABY. In 12 ABY, the New Republic dispatched the fleet carrier Endurance to participate in a military campaign against the forces of the Imperial Remnant. To that end, the Endurance traveled from the Corphelion system to the Belukat system, passing through the Jestan system in the process.
