Assassination of Marg Krim

During the early Imperial Era, the former Sith Lord turned crime lord, Maul, assassinated Illustrious Imperator Marg Krim of the Pyke Syndicate in the Pyke Palace on Oba Diah, in revenge for betraying him and his Shadow Collective crime syndicate at the end of the Clone Wars.

Maul had kidnapped another betrayer of his on Janix, Looti Vario, and used the Aleena's syndicate's connections to the Pykes to disrupt their operations, then had Vario offer to personally deliver restitution to Krim. When Vario arrived on the Pyke's homeworld, he was met by a squad of Pykes lead by Captain of the Guard Kalt. The Aleena nervoursly tried to reveal Maul's presence, only for a hooded Zabrak to emerge from the starship and begin slaying the Pykes with a red-bladed lightsaber. Vario used a pistol to stun the attacker, and Kalt and the remaining guards escorted the pair to see Krim in the Pyke stronghold's throne room.

There, the crime lord admonished Vario for thinking he was unaware of Maul's return on Janix, and took Maul's lightsaber from Kalt before pulling the hood off the captive Zabrak. Doing so revealed the assailant to be Icarus, a Nightbrother underling of Maul's, who at that moment entered the throne room and used the Force to activate his saber, telekinetically slashing it across Krim's chest. As the crime lord collapsed, dead, Maul cut his way through the Pyke guards, pausing when only three, including Kalt, remained. They surrendered, and Maul lectured Krim's corpse for betraying him, before appointing Kalt as the late Pyke's successor on the condition of his loyalty. With his vengeance achieved and control over the Pyke Syndicate reasserted, Maul returned to his base of operations on Janix.
