The Curious Child

Canon

The Curious Child is a limited-time guest experience at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. The nighttime projection show, playing immediately after the finale of Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga, portrays key moments from the the television series Star Wars: The Mandalorian and the 2026 film, Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu. Incorporating the existing technology and audience of Shadows of Memory, The Curious Child showcases Din Grogu creating images of his memory by assembling small objects and simple tools found around the Millennium Falcon using the Force. The shadows cast by these composite sculptures create the images associated with scenes from the series and film. The show is set to themes from the show and film by Ludwig Göransson, as well as some motifs of classic Star Wars music by John Williams.

The show is based around ancient arts of shadow and light in storytelling, as explained by Disney Live Entertainment Video Systems Design Manager KC Wilkerson. The silhouette of Grogu was animated by capturing motionless tracking of one of the animators performing the choreography before superimposing those movements onto Grogu.

The debut performance of The Curious Child was attended by The Mandalorian showrunner and director of The Mandalorian and Grogu, Jon Favreau, as well as Lucasfilm President Dave Filoni, actor Pedro Pascal, and actress Sigourney Weaver.
